When God Speaks

I wrote the previous blog because it’s where I am right now. The irony is when I was preparing for church last night I asked God for a word. Maybe that sounds strange to some of my readers, especially my regular church attenders because don’t we go to church for a word? Well, maybe. Most do, but sometimes I think we get so used to the routine of church that we forget the magnitude of what it means to get a fresh word from God that we can use to carry out our life’s mission. So that’s where I was last night. In my feelings and desperately needing a word from God that could give me clarity and direction. You may remember a few weeks ago I wrote about that time I told God I wasn’t going to write anymore and that same day He sent a sweet woman to tell me she had been praying to meet me. God knew that I was planning to quit writing, but the sweet woman did not. Instead He gave her a word to give me. Let me explain. She had seen me in passing through dance fitness, but this particular day she had a sense of urgency to reach out to me. After I told her my story, she shared hers. She said she didn’t even know why she felt such a sense of urgency, but she knew that she had to reach me that day. Look at God working behind the scenes! Even though my emotions are raw today and there are tears in my eyes, I do know that He loves me and wants the best for me. I am reminded of how often I make my own decisions and go my own way, yet He is always faithful to bring me back around with love and patience. What an amazing God we serve! I’m encouraged already!
