Come Out From Among Them

2 Corinthians 6:17-18 “Therefore ‘Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.’” This is one of those scriptures I love quoting it because I like the way it sounds. But digging deeper this scripture reminds me of how challenging this command from God really is, and I’m speaking from experience. Come out from among them. Come out from whom? Come out from where? Yesterday I talked about sin and separation. How many of us don’t realize that it is our sin condition that keeps us separated? How many of us don’t realize that our associations can make sinning seem so appealing and a much better option from following God. I have learned that separation is nowhere near as palatable as being in the presence of God and the calling He has for us. I have spent too long running from what I know I’m called to do. Not because I wasn’t equipped or called. My sin, my selfishness, my desire to do things my way separated me from my calling. God says come out from among them and be separate. During this time of consecration and separation I’m separating myself from anything that will cause me to lose focus on the call and the plan of God for my life. Because it’s not just the coming out of what you were in. It is the going into everything that God has for us.
