What Has Been Spoken Over You?

Usually when you hear this question your mind might automatically go to negative things people have spoken over you, but what about the positive things? Here’s my story. Years ago when I was completely out of the will of God an older woman whom I met at a wedding told me that God had called me to be an evangelist. This woman had never met me, nor did she know that I was raised in a church that prohibited women from speaking in church. Better yet, did I mention I was outside of the will of God? Just living foul. And she said I was called to be an evangelist. Fast forward about five years and a colleague spoke the same words. My walk with God had improved a little, but I still was far from where I needed to be to even imagine myself evangelizing anything. Fast forward even more years and I fell in love with Zumba so much that I started telling everyone about Zumba. My instructor called me a Zumbavangelist. Funny but true! Yes, I was going to spread the word that Jesus and Zumba could change your life! But seriously what has been said about you that you just don’t see yet? That same instructor who called me the Zumbavangelist was told by her parents that she was going to be a doctor. She didn’t go to med school right away and actually followed a different career path. Guess where she is now? In medical school. During the difficult seasons we need a positive word to hold on to. When we feel weak or defeated, we need to know that God still sees us as victorious and so do other people. No matter where you are today, someone somewhere believes that there is greatness in you. Let’s pray and ask God to open your eyes so that you can see it too.
