Ezekiel 37:7 “So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to bone.”
To my future writer friends: I know that many of you are afraid. Afraid to speak what is really on your heart and mind. Usually when I encourage writers, I come from Matthew “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” But today I realized that it’s not your message that is the problem. You have got that. What I think trips us up and discourages us is losing sight of WHO needs to receive your message. For the longest time when I heard or read about the dry bones, I focused on the bones coming to life. I completely missed HOW the bones came to life. Step one in the process was for Ezekiel to prophesy to the dry bones, and step two was the Lord actually doing the work. All of this is beautiful how God did this, isn’t it? But wait…there’s more. How did Ezekiel get in the presence of the dry bones in the first place? Verse 1 tells us that “The hand of the Lord came upon me and brought me out in the Spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley; and it was full of bones.” So you mean to tell me that God will bring people to you who need a word from God? Absolutely! I’ve been writing and blogging for a little over four years now, and I’m just now really understanding the impact of my words. The impact of the calling to write. The impact on those who will receive the message. Today I encourage you to look at your surroundings. Who are the people that God has placed around you, and what do you have to say to them? You have got the message. Now speak. Now prophesy and let God do the rest.
