On Being Grateful

This is going to sound strange, but sometimes you have to thank God for the problems that you have and not wish for someone else’s. In this social media world, we think we know how people live behind the camera. It can make us believe that our lives are terrible in comparison to others’ lives. Reality TV is not reality and all my smiling selfies are not who I really am. I have real issues, and some days those issues weigh me down. And then I get a glimpse of someone else’s problems. I mentioned in a previous post about currently having to deal with an unknown neighbor who is smoking weed incessantly. Definitely a problem I dread, but can I thank God for the roof over my head? It is brutally cold and someone right now is sleeping outside. My 24 year old sometimes drives me nuts, and this is after we saw significant breakthrough last year. But someone else is visiting their 24 year old in the hospital or at a gravesite. I know it’s rough, but I guarantee there is someone who has it rougher. Today I will choose to give thanks in everything and trust for the days that things will get better.
