#Boundaries

Sometimes you gotta look back and thank God for the victories you have already won. I thank God that He has taught me boundaries. Years ago I used to drive a woman to work. Not at my job but to her job. But that’s not how it started. It started with me driving her to church with me. Then I was asked to drive her to the church when she had to clean. Eventually it was to and from the grocery store and other small errands. I looked at my life and said, Wait, I have become a taxi cab driver and didn’t even realize it! Ever notice how one thing you do for someone can lead to a plethora of things? I was shortchanging my personal life so that I could be available to drive her around. I really woke up when she and her son would get into it and I would be trying to play mediator. Really? Had this become my life? I’ve had other times when people thought they could call me every day and talk about the same things, so let’s take a praise break and thank God for caller ID! But really, I thank God that He taught me how to set up boundaries so that my life didn’t become cluttered with other people’s stuff. Today I watched a pastor I had never seen before but one I just found on Instagram, and he told a story about his divorce. He said while he was losing his marriage and his home, his congregation would still call him to come visit so and so in the hospital and come to the cookout and bless the food. Wow!!! Do we as a people really do that to other people? Our needs supersede what’s going on in someone else’s life? Yes, my friends, we do that. Today I ask you to look at two things. Have you established reasonable boundaries in your own life? Have you at times overstepped other people’s boundaries? Something to think about.
