Goliath Has Sons

Today while I was walking I heard a message about David and Goliath, not the traditional story but a story about Goliath’s sons. Earlier this morning I had asked a powerful woman of God to pray for me as I prepared to write this new blog, and in our prayer time I realized I still had some Goliaths in my life. I thought I had killed off giants, but yesterday proved that I could still be swayed by someone else’s opinion of me. Not only that I found myself being so hurt that I didn’t want to do what I know I’ve been called to do. What has hurt you to the point that you are ready to give up? What giants keep reappearing? What I didn’t know is that Goliath had sons. So yes, David killed Goliath, but his sons popped back up to torment him. Fortunately this story has a happy ending. David didn’t have to kill the sons. His army did it for him. My own son taught me something very valuable last week. He said, Mom, people always look to me for prayer and encouragement, but they forget that I need prayer too. Wow! These past few days have shown me that I have been blessed with my own army of friends who are gracious and kind to jump in and “fight” my giants when my own strength has left me. Not with brute strength, but with encouragement and prayer. They showed me that there are more with me than against me. The same is true for you. Don’t let your giants keep you from moving forward. You have more supporters than you know. (refer to 2 Samuel 21)
